I like the journaling! It's always a cool way to give a bit of a preview to what the story will be about! I would shy away from putting in the year, though, simply because we don't really know the years of Naruto. Their years don't quite coincide with our own or at least not that we know of. I have a story myself that deals with dates and whatnot, so I just chose to leave the year out but revealed what year in the story it was by other events that occurred and the age of Naruto characters.

Lately I seem to be running into femNaru fanfics that I really like. It's interesting since I don't think I ever would have thought to like something like that in the past, but now I seem to keep reading them! *rolls eyes* The other one I'm following though is after Naruto has grown up, though. This has caught my interest, and I'm looking forward to what will become of Naru, as you have named the female Naruto. XD

Author's Response: Yeah, I get what you mean about putting the year in. I was kind of unsure about that at first, but I figured since the world it takes place in is very similar to ours (really the only difference is the countries and cities) it was okay. Originally the story was actually going to be futuristic. I'm really glad you like the story, though! :)
