*tears streaming down face* This is so sad and heartwarming at the same time. Yahiko's life with his mother is really depressing. But meeting Konan in the end was really sweet.

The promise he made to his mother was probably the best part of the story though. I don't know, just hearing him keep his promise to her really made me happy.

Even though I'm sad that Yahiko's mom died, I like that he decided to burn the house down. It's symbolic that he burned it becasue it's the same way his father died. I don't know, I thought it was good parallelism.

Great one-shot! I really enjoyed this. It was heartbreaking yet really sweet. I hope to see more of your works, keep up the great work with your writing!

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! I'm really glad that you liked it and notiiced the connection I made with his parents deaths (I didn't think anyone would).
