He leaped through the trees, following his teammate’s tracks. Stupid Naruto! Why’d he have to go on a bathroom break now of all times? He stopped as the forest beneath him rumbled dangerously. What was that? An earthquake? No… It couldn’t have. He resumed his tracking, more urgently than before. The rumbling grew stronger as he went on. Finally, he arrived in a newly created field. The clearing was the result of two enormous snakes thrashing about. Why are they moving around so much? Oh, great! They’re after Sakura! He leaped into the fray to help his pink-haired friend.
“Sasuke! Where’s Naruto?” Sakura gasped as she dodged a fireball. “Do you know why these snakes are attacking us?”
“I don’t know. And I don’t think they’re part of the exam.” He quickly formed seals while dodging yet another fireball. “Fire style: Fire Flower Jutsu!” Fireballs quickly shot out from his mouth, scorching one of the snakes.
“Great job Sasuke! You’re so amaz…”
“Move, Sakura!” He grabbed her and hurtled out of the path of the rampaging snake. “It’s not dead yet…” He noticed the snake was veering toward the right. Its left eye was blind! “Sakura, aim for their eyes! The eyes are their weak points!” He pulled out some twine from his pack. “Follow my lead.”
He rushed the injured snake, blasting the snake’s other eye. It lashed out in its pain, slamming Sasuke into a tree. The snake was about to finish him off when it dissapeared with a loud bang. In its place was a pale-skinned man with ambitious eyes. His tongue was disgustingly long and lagged out of his mouth. His black hair was sligthly longer than his hanging tongue. He smiled maniacally.
“Sasuke, so nice to finally meet you in person. I am Orochimaru.” He giggled. “I was going to play with you and your little friend, but it seems our playtime has been cut short.” He sighed dramatically. “So i’ll just leave you with a little gift.” He quickly formed seals and his head and neck stretched toward Sasuke. His teeth protuding like fangs, he was nearing Sasuke’s neck. Suddenly, there was a flash of orange and a puff of smoke! The mysterious man had bitten Naruto! He stood there uncertainly, then dissapeared.
Naruto and Sasuke stood motionless, then Naruto collapsed. His neck now had a seal on it. However, the seal was glowing brightly and the skin around it was turning red.
“Sasuke... Sasuke, I need you to do something for me...”
“What is it you idiot?”
“Sasuke, protect Sakura.”
Sasuke snorted. “Protect her yourself. Your going to be fine.”
Naruto only smiled as he closed his eyes. They did not open again.
