It was a normal morning in Konoha for 10 year-old Naruto Uzumaki.He had just started his daily walk to the ninja academy when a large mob caught him off guard. Poor naruto defensless has he tried to run away from his pursuirs as the launched rocks, sticks and mostle any hard objects toward Naruto.

"Why don't you just leave! You know you are unwanted here!" yelled one of the many mobers.

For some reason the villagers had always reacted this way to Naruto and poor Naruto had no idea why.

Luckily Naruto was finally able to lose the mob when he entered the forest. When he was able to make sure there was still no persistent villagers on the chase he took a well deserved rest. 'It looks like I'm going to miss class again. Boy is Iruka-sensai gonna be pissed!' he thought sadly to himself.

Naruto had just made himself comfortable when he heard a strange sound from nearby. Naruto obviously thought it was another mobber wishing to make some last jabs at Naruto.In an attempt to protect himself from whatever was nearby Naruto took out his only weapon from up his sleeve, a small kunai. With kunai in hand Naruto lunged in the direction the sound was coming from.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" screamed a fairly surprised and frightened figure as Naruto pinned them to the ground and held the kunai menacingly to their neck. Naruto looked into the face of what he thought was his would be attacker only to see a large misty light brown pair of eyes staring back up at him completely filld ith fright. "Oh please don't hurt me. I have nothing for you to steal! No money, no food, NOTHING!" the owner of the eyes pleaded despratley.

Feeling awfully ashamed, Naruto slowly got off of the stranger looking sincerly sorry.He studied the rest of the features of his victim carefully because he had never seen anyone resembling her. She was around the age of Naruto maybe even a year older. She had long, curly jetblack hair runnning down her back and extremeley tan skin, though her eyes were still the most mesmerizing thing about her.

"I'm so sorry about attacking you, I thought you were part of the mob." he said trying to pull one of his fake smiles but he noticed she was not convinced.

"What mob? I saw no mob!" she said angrily

"Thats because I lost them when I entered the woods!" he said with just the same amount of force.

"Why would a mob chase you?" she asked curiously.

"I don't know, they've always been that way. Always coming at me with attacks saying I'm just a curse on this village." he said

"Oh.." she said quietly. She looked down now at the ground.

"Don't worry.." he said happily. He watched as she lifted her and then once again he couldn't help but stare into those big round eyes. The girl noticed how he stared at her.

"What are you looking at?" she asked him hotly.

Naruto quickly looked away. "oh........Nothing!" he said quickly.

Just then the girls stomach growled loudly. "It sure sounds like you're hungry. How about I treat you to lunch?" he offered.

"Oh no I couldn't do that." she said.

"No, I'm buying you lunch and theres nothing you can say to stop me. It's the least I can do after tackling you like that." he demanded

Naruto grabbed the girls arm and lead her through the forest and out on to the street. they had only started walking when the girl started noticing peoples glares and the whispering between themselves. She strained her ears to hear what they were talking about.

"Would you look at that poor girl being dragged along by that Uzumaki kid. Her parents should give her a good talking to about coming in contact with that boy. he is going to be the down fall of this village....." she had heard enough of their poisoned words. 'Is this what he has to put up with?' she thought to herself.

Naruto abruptly stopped causing her bump into him. "Were here!" he said in triumph. She looked in the direction naruto was standing and their in front of her was a small ramen stand. Naruto quickly pulled her into the stand and started to tell the cook their orders without wasting any time.

They waited in silence as the cook prepared their ramen. then an idea popped into Narutos head. He had no idea what this girls name was. He stuck out his hand and said " I don't think we have fully aquanted ourselves yet. I'm Naruto Uzumaki!" the girl jsut sat there for a moment staring curiously at Naruto but then put on a large smile and shook his hand. "Well Naruto, my name is Noleta Aritzisabal!"

Ever since Naruto bought her lunch Noleta and Naruto had been friends. They met up every morning where they had first met and would spend the evening together. Sometimes they would go to the some of narutos hangouts or just relaxed in his small apartment. One evening they were watching the sunset as they layed in a field. A thought was bothering Naruto and he had finally decided to get this question off his chest.

"Um......Noleta" he said quietly.

"Yes Naruto?" she replied serenly as she gazed up at the brilliant sky.

"Why have I never met your family or gone to your house?" he asked even more quietly

Noleta bit her lip at this question, she had hoped he would have never asked her this question sh she just layed their in deafening silence.

"Is it because you're ashamed of having me as a friend?" he said sadly with a hint of guilt

At this she turned abruptly as to look him straight in those cerrulean blue eyes."No Naruto it's nothing like that at all!" she said angrily.

Naruto being extremely surprised and speechless just managed to slip these words out."Then why?"

"I don't have a home! I don't have a family! Ive been camping out in the woods hiding!" she said frustrated as tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"Why?" he said pushing to get the specifics for a reason he did not know why.

"Because Naruto my family was killed two years ago by a group that wish to kill the whole Aritzisabal clan......including me. Ive been running from them since I was eight and this is longest gone without them tracking me down to my hiding spots. I believe they'll be coming soon." she said sadly now hugging her legs and rocking back and forth not daring to look at the reaction on Narutos face.

Naruto now so totally dumbfounded that he couldn't even move, all he could do as Noleta got up slowly and started walking away was watch. Just as Noleta was a meter away from him she stopped."If you wish to talk you'll find me where you always have." and with that out in the air she walked away leaving Naruto still gaping.

Hours later................

Naruto was walking home in complete silence thinking about what he had learned about his friend but all he could think is 'Why me?' out of all people he had to befriend someone who was in danger of being murdered. he sighed loudly when suddenly he heard a noise coming from a bush and he decided to investigate. When he got close to the bush he was pulled in violently and had a bag pulled over his head. he couldn't see a thing but he could tell that he was being carried. His wrists and ankle had been tied together so he tried to squirm which resulted in him beig punched directly in the stomach. now wincing in pain Naruto decided to just hang on until he was able to find out what was going on.

After waitingfor a fair amount of time naruto was thrusted into a chair and had the bag pulled off his head. The first thing was a blinding flourescent light shining directly into his face but as his eyes adjusted to the extreme brightness dark muscular figures began to blurr into view. A man stepped forward with authority and looked Naruto straight in the eye. The man had a scar going diagonly across his face.

"Are you Naruto Uzumaki?" he asked sternly.

"Maybe, what's it to ya?" he replied strongly and looked the man straight into his beady black eyes.

"Hmmmm..........he fits the description perfectly. Tell me boy what do you know of a girl named Noleta Aritzisabal?"

"Nothing at all........I've never heard of her!" Naruto was an awful liar.

"Well I beg to differ." he said with a smirk. "Where do you always find her?" he asked getting back on subject.

"Where do I always...what?" Naruto asked confused."Wait, you guys have been spying on us!"

"Stop making stupid remarks and answer the question!" asked the man frustration.

A sly looking woman with a skinny face and mousy brown hair stepped forward."You could always just use the potion on him." she said handing the man a small bottle with a orange liquid inside.

"True..." he said with a smile on his face."Do you know what this is boy? Its a truth potion, it'll make you tell us exactly what we want."

'Oh fuck' was the only thing naruto could think of as all the other people started holding him down and lodging the bottle down his throat. He felt the liquid tingle as it slithered down his throat. he tried coughing it up but couldn't manage.

"No use, now lets continue with our questions. Where is Noleta?" he said contently. Naruto couldn't help it, the answer just slipped out

"Good........Attack later." he said" What will we do with the boy?" asked one of the people."Lets just leave him here, he wont be much of a porblem." said the sly woman. And with that they left him alone.

'What have i done? I've just insured the death of my only friend, thats what I've done!' he thought guiltily.'Just sitting here is not going to save Noleta, i got to get out of here and warn her.' Naruto struggled but finally managed to cut the ropes that bound him with his kunai. He wasted no time getting to the forest. He ran faster than he ever did before.

When he finally arrived at their meeting spot Naruto found Noleta sitting up in a tree.

"Noleta!" he screamed loudly.

Noleta looked down toward Naruto"Oh hey Naruto! i was beginning to wonder what had happened to you." she said as she jumped out of the tree and landed gracefully in front of Naruto.

"Noleta you got to go! There coming after you!" he said frantically

"You mean?" she asked, fear in her voice.

"Yes!" he replied.

Just as they were about to leave the group arrived and blocked their way. the man with the scar stepped forward."where do you think you're going Noleta?" he asked as he laughed menacingly.

"Suoh, why can't you just leave me alone!" she yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Because if I did that you'd stay alive. Now attack!" at his command the group swarmed in on Naruto and Noleta.

The last thing heard before he was knocked out was the defening scream of Noleta. When he woke up he was in the hospital and immediatly started asking for Noleta but everyone looked at him like he was crazy. There was no way she could have survived he thought.

4 years later......in present day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Naruto awoke to the loud beeping of his alarm clock and sighed loudly. He grogily got up and started getting ready for the day. After getting showered and clothed Naruto heated up some leftover ramen from last nights dinner and began to eat it slowly though he was disturbed by loud knocking on his front door. Naruto quickly got up and answered the door only to find Kakashi-sensai and Sasuke standing in his doorway. he just stood there staring at them waiting for them to tell him why they were here.

"Good morning Naruto!" said Kakashi brightly

"What is it Kakashi-sensai?" he asked. He knew the only reason he would come to his house personally was if he had important news for him.

"Okay I guess I'm gonna go straight to the point. You and Sasuke have been chosen for an A-ranked Chunin mission." he said in a matter-of-fact sort of way.

"wait, why isn't Sakura apart of this?" he asked confused.

"because this is a Chunin mission and Sakura is still a genin unlike you and Sasuke." he said it almost as if all it was he should've said was DUH."You'll be leaving in a few hours so get packed and we'll meet at the Konoha gates where I'll tell you the details of your mission." and with that Kakashi and Sasuke left in silence.

a few hours later (noon)

Naruto was rushing through crowds of people with a bulging sack on his back. This was his first A-ranked chunin mission and hell he wasn't going to be late for it. He arrived at the gates panting only to see the emotionless Sasuke already their leaning against the wall.

"Well, what took you so long?" asked Sasuke in a cool mono-tone obviously trying to piss off Naruto.

"Not now Sasuke, wheres Kakashi-sensai?" he asked.

"Late as usual." he said with a sort of brisk superiority.

"Now Sasuke, you should really give me more credit than that!" said Kakashi who had just arrived after jumping out of a nearby tree. Kakashis response took Sasuke by surprise and he stumbled over onto the ground. "Kakashi-sensai you're here earlier than usual!" said the stunned Sasuke as Naruto laughed at his clumsyness.

"You didn't think i would be late on such an important day such as this?!" he said innocently.

"You were late on our first day of being ninja." said Naruto with a smirk. At this remark kakashi simply rubbed the back of his head in thought.

"Well I guess I was....Oh well, nothing to be done about that now." he said, you could notice he was smiling under the mask."Now about your mission....you will be helping a ninja from a nearby village with her mission. So really your mission is to do a mission with someone else." he said it slowly so as not to get confused.

"Why can't her team help her?" asked Naruto curiously.

"Because they are all indisposed at the moment and you two are perfect for the job. Now no more questions you need to get to the village and meet her by sunset so you better get a move on." he said pushing them out of Konoha and then disapearing in a puff of smoke.

"Come on Naruto we can't be late." said Sasuke as he began to walk away.

"Right!" said Naruto trailing after him.

Just before sunset
______________________________________________________

Naruto and Sasuke had the village in their sights and began to quicken their pace. It looked like they were going to be their ealier than expected.

When they reached the gates of the quaint little village they found that no one was there waiting.

"Well we are a bit early." remarked Sasukeas he noticed that the sun had just started to set.

Suddenly they heard the sound of footsteps coming closer to the gate. They waited in silence as the footsteps were getting even closer until finally they could see the leg of the person. Naruto was just about to greet the person when he fainted from shock..........

Inside the unconcious Naruto memories of the exotic misty light brown eyed girl swirl through his head.'I thought she was dead.'

Suddenly he was revived by a bucket of ice cold water that (of course) Sasuke had thrown onto him. the first thing that came out of his mouth was "Noleta!" which he yelled/gurgled because of the water in his mouth.

"What?" asked Sasuke with a sort of bemused face. Naruto got himself back on his feet but almost fell back down because he was still light headed but he managed to gain his balance.

"Where'd she go?!"naruto asked frantically hoping that he had not just imagined it all.

"She went around the corner. She told me to tell you to see her once you gained conciousness." Sasuke explained.

Sasuke was just about to ak if why he had fainted but Naruto had ran around the corner before Sasuke could get a word out.Naruto looked around for Noleta but didn't see her anywhere. Suddenly he was pulled into a bush (ironic ain't it) and before he could yell out a hand clapsed over his mouth. Naruto was spun in the direction of whoever had him who just turned out to be Noleta. Noleta took her hand off of his mouth and smiled at him.Just as Naruto was about to speak Noleta put her index finger to her mouth a shushed him, then signaled him to follow her as she crawled through the very long bush. Finally after much crawling there came an opening in the bush which Noleta exited. Naruto saw he was standing in a large opening in the trees.

"Why did you take me all the way out here?" he asked her curiously. She did not answer, only stood there soaking his image up just as Naruto was soaking hers. They had both changed since the last time they had met, Naruto was taller and had more muscle definition and Noleta...well Noleta's hair was even longer and well her body had matured (cough*boobs*cough)which he couldn't help but notice.

All of sudden naruto felt a warm body latch itself around him. He looked down to see Noleta hugging him, her face wet with tears. Naruto smiled and hugged her back.

"I missed you so much." she whispered.

"I thought you had died."he whispered back. At this Noleta stared up into his solemn face."How did you survive?" he asked. Noleta once again buried her face into his chest and nodded back and forth (whats that called?)."Noleta?" he asked quietly.

"I don't want to talk about it" she said frustrated. She turned her back on Naruto "C'mon we better get back, your friend must be worried." she said solenmly. This time they did not take the secret path through the bush but ran/jumped through the branches of the trees. As they were doing so Noleta noticed how Naruto did jumped on all fours like a dog or a cat, no a fox it was more like a pounce.

Finally they arrived at the gates only to find Sasuke surrounded by girls.

"No matter where he goes, Sasuke has to be a chic magnet!" Naruto groaned loudly. Noleta couldn't help but laugh at Narutos remark although she noticed the pained face Sasuke had and she decided to stop his suffering.

"Okay girls, time to back off." she said with power as she pulled Sasuke out of the crowd of girls. All the girls sighed with disapointment as they walked off. Sasuke was amazed of the power she had over the other girls, it surprised him. He had never seen a girl with so much power.....he liked it.

When all they girls were out of sight he turned to Noleta."I don't thik I got your name." he said cooly, trying to turn his charm on. Naruto scowled as he noticed this.

Noleta laughed slightly."I'm Noleta Aritzisabal." she smiled at him pleasantly.

"You might of heard of me.....I'm Sasuke uchiha." he said with a smile that matched her own. He waited, expecting that smile to turn into a look of awe on her face.

"Sasuke Uchiha.....hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm..........never heard of it. Although I have heard of Itachi Uchiha, are you related to him?" Sasukes face was the one in awe now.

"How could you have heard of that evil bastard and not me! I am the last respectable and good Uchiha left of my clan!" he yelled and Noleta was taken aback.

Naruto slithered into the conversation with a smirk on his face "Maybe not so good after-all..." he said slyly. At this comment Noleta burst out laughing. Sasuke fought furiously to hide his blushing but all his attempts perished. 'What is this I'm was feeling inside, is it jealosy? Why would I be jealous? Maybe it's because Naruto just embarassed him infront of Noleta........why would I care what Noleta thinks? Maybe it's because she's the only girl to have ever rejected him.' sasuke wished he'd stop answering his own questions. The truth was he liked Noleta

“Before we get started will you please tell us what kind mission we are going on.” said Sasuke trying to make a good impression on Noleta. (Like please is gonna help.)

“It’s a search and destroy mission.” she said with her back turned.

“What are we destroying?” asked Naruto curiously.

Noleta turned to both of them and looked at them with a stony look in her eye. “A person, as a matter of fact Naruto, you know him.”

This comment just made them even more confused but even more Naruto. “How would I know him?” he asked as he searched in his memory for the person she could possibly be talking about.

Noleta just held up her hand in a demanding way obviously telling them to stop asking questions. Fortunately for the both of them they understood this gesture and heeded it. “Come, you both are to stay at my place until we are told to take off on our mission.” She said as she started away from the gates and led them through the semi crowded streets. They finally arrived at a small house with two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and a bathroom.

Naruto eyed the contents of the house critically. ”So this is where you live…..it’s cozy but it’s only got two bedrooms.” he stated.

“Wow, how long did it take you to figure that out!” remarked Sasuke sarcastically. He looked over to Noleta expecting some approval with a series of giggles but was disappointed to see her ignoring his comment.

“Naruto you’ll sleep in my room and Sasuke you get the guest room. I’ll be sleeping on the couch.” She said as she pointed to the small red love seat in the middle of the living room.

Naruto was about to contradict her but Sasuke beat him to it. “Why don’t I sleep on the couch instead?” He said as he flashed a toothy white smile that would have made Lee jealous.

“No I couldn’t do such a thing. You two are my guests and are to be as comfortable as possible.” She spoke sweetly but with a hint of annoyance lingering in her tone. “Naruto, why don’t I help you get you’re stuff settled into my room.” She pulled him forcefully into the room and shut the door behind them.

“Hm.” scoffed a jealous Uchiha.

Naruto gazed at the walls surrounding him; they were extremely bare and white. There was only one thing that inhabited the boring space; it was a framed photo of two children grinning happily with Hokage Mountain in the back ground. One was a boy with a shock of spiky blond hair and two pools of cerulean blue as eyes next him was a tan girl with long curly hair of coal and misty brown orbs. He continued to stare at the happy picture from his past and smiled serenely at the memories that were connected to the photo.

Naruto and Noleta sat in front of the historical monument of Konoha having a small picnic that the two had prepared together. The two were nibbling on some small sandwiches and conversing happily.

“Those shinobi must have been really important to get their faces carved up so nicely.” remarked Noleta.

“Like hell they were! Only the Hokages can get there faces up there. That’s my dream!” said Naruto loudly with a proud expression on his face.

“What’s your dream?” she asked confused by her hyper-active blond companion.

“To be Hokage because then the villagers will finally respect me whether they like it or not.” He said with clenched fist punching the air enthusiastically. Noleta giggled at her strange friends’ energy.

Noleta plopped onto her bed and she coughed loudly to get Narutos attention. Naruto spun around immediately at the sound to look at her. “Why don’t we start unpacking? It’s going to get late soon and you’ll want to be able to go to sleep as soon as possible.” She suggested as she started emptying the contents of his bag. It contained mostly clothes and shinobi tools with a few knick-knacks here and there. “Boy, aren’t you organized!” she said sarcastically.

Naruto tried to focus on his stuff but he was to busy admiring Noleta as she started folding his shirts. She was so careful with everything and her hands were graceful as the maneuvered around the clothing. Just then as he was focusing on her hands did he notice something.

Naruto grabbed Noletas wrist and she looked up into his face with surprise. He pushed up her sleeve to reveal a strange purple tattoo going from her wrist to her elbow. Noleta snatched back her arm hastily and once again covered her arm. Naruto looked at her sternly.

“What was that Noleta?” he asked in a voice not out of anger but of concern.

Noleta wondered whether she should let him in on this one secret, she wondered if he would understand.

“As a child my clan put this tattoo on me to mark me as part of the clan, it also shows my power. I have to cover it up because he is still after me. Naruto you must understand, here I am not known as Noleta Ariztisabal but as Noleta Fachang. It is a fairly regular clan name around these parts.” She kept her eyes closed throughout her explanation and opened them only after she felt Narutos hand on her shoulder. She looked at him and saw only trus sorrow in his eyes.

“To have to pretend all your life that you’re somebody else, it must have been hard. You must have felt like you were turning your back on your clan, your family.” Wisdom was etched into his words and Noleta let them soak in before she nodded sadly. Naruto could tell that she obviously did not want to talk about this any more and so he went back to organize his stuff and soon Noleta was by his side.
