Kurobushi no Ryuu

Prologue

“Again, from the beginning!” boomed a stern voice. Ryuu picked up his kunai and shurikens. Throwing them in a swift and neat manner, Ryuu had finally managed to hit all of the targets accurately. Looking at his father, hoping for some sort of praise, the dragon god, Ryoki, simply grunted and walked off. Ryuu let out a sigh, and sat on the soft grass.

A few days later, when Ryuu returned from training with his sensei, he spotted his father being held by the neck by a stranger. The stranger wore a large black cloak, with red clouds printed on it. Ryuu immediately ran towards his father, screaming for him. But it was too late, Ryoki was stabbed and he collapsed to the ground. The stranger disappeared, his laugh fading away.

Ryuu lifted his father’s head and whispered, “Father,” Ryoki turned pale and looked up into Ryuu’s face. “Son…” he started. “…I… love you,” as he whispered the last word, Ryoki closed his eyes forever.

Chapter 1

Ryuu woke up, sweating profusely. ‘That dream again…’ he thought. Looking out of his apartment window, Ryuu thought, ‘This place is always so gloomy… I wonder when it’ll clear…’ The mist was especially thick today, Ryuu wondered if it was an omen. Putting on his ANBU mask and suit, Ryuu got ready to go on a patrol. His katana was always in his hand, he liked it that way. As soon as he stepped out of the apartment, there were a few screams. “Ryuu-kun!!!”

Ryuu’s eyes widened. As the group of girls ran towards him, Ryuu smirked and formed the seals in a second, and he disappeared. A log stood in his place and the girls groaned in defeat. Ryuu had escaped once again. To Ryuu, his looks were a curse. To others, it was a gift from heaven. Shifting his ANBU mask a little, Ryuu spotted two strangers approaching the village with familiar cloaks. Black cloaks with red clouds. Ryuu clutched his fist tightly. It was time for revenge. Landing on his feet gracefully in front of the two strangers, Ryuu glowered at them and said, “Stop right there,” The first stranger, who simply smiled, said, “Why should we? You’re not gonna stop us are you? You’re gonna die, ANBU… yeah,” The other stranger said, “Make this quick, Deidara…” The first stranger, who was called Deidara, answered, “Of course… Sasori-danna.”


“Katon, Gokakyuu no Jutsu!” A large fireball flew towards a smiling Deidara. He dodged, and took out something white. Deidara curled his hand up and smirked, “Do you know what art is…?” Ryuu hissed, “Why should I care?” Deidara’s hand uncurled and there laid a clay bird. Throwing it up high, Deidara answered, “Art… is a blast!” He formed a seal and the clay bird flew towards Ryuu. “Kawarimi no Jutsu!” Ryuu disappeared just before the bird exploded. The bird exploded and tore the log apart. Deidara frowned. “You’re good, ANBU… now I’ll introduce to you… number 18… yeah,” He grabbed another piece of white clay and curled his hand up. Ryuu saw this as a chance and used his katana to attack Deidara. Deidara dodged, but he was cut on the face. Blood dripped down from his face. Smirking, Deidara threw the clay high up into the air and formed the seal again. The bird was so fast that Ryuu could not even see it coming. “Katon, Housenka no Jutsu!!” The bird was still unharmed.

Before Ryuu could escape, the bird exploded and sent Ryuu flying into the river. Deidara whispered, “Victory,” Sasori drawled, “Your timing must be improved… Deidara.”

Ryuu plunged into the river. He slowly floated to the top, unconscious.

The two Akatsuki members headed into the Mist village.

Kurobushi no Ryuu

Chapter 2

Ryuu opened his eyes and looked around. He did not recognize this place, or even the outside of it. It wasn’t misty at all. Looking at his bandaged wounds, he thought, ‘I must be in another village… but the two strangers… that Deidara and Sasori… damn it. I could have defeated them.’

A nurse walked in and said, “Good morning, sir, a fisherman brought you in here and told us to take care of you. The doctor said that you could be discharged today, of course,” Ryuu then asked, “Where are my clothes?” The nurse cheerfully replied, “They are in the closet beside you. Your ANBU mask is in the drawer, sir,” The nurse walked out. Opening the closet, Ryuu immediately changed and walked out of the hospital. He looked around and realized that he was in the Hidden Leaf Village. “Konoha…” he muttered to himself. Ryuu continued walking with his hands in his pockets.

A group of girls stood in a corner, huddled together. One of them spotted Ryuu and said to the other girls, “Look, girls! There’s a cute guy standing over there! I can even compare him to Sasuke-kun!” She walked towards Ryuu and said, “Hi! I’m Ayaka! What’s your name?” Ryuu stared at her and replied, “I’m… Kurobushi no Ryuu,” Ayaka winked at the other girls and continued, “So… Ryuu-kun! Are you free? We can go for lunch together,” Ryuu sighed. ‘Another fan club huh?’ He replied coldly, “No, I’m busy,” Ayaka frowned and pressed on. “How about tomorrow?” Ryuu shook his head. Ayaka returned to the group and whispered, “He’s our next target! The next time we see him, we’ll follow him!”

Ryuu walked further into the streets, and bumped into a tall, silver-haired man with a mask. “…Sorry,” he muttered. The man grinned and said, “Nah, people bump into me almost everyday… of course… they’re mostly girls. Hey… I haven’t seen you before. Are you new here?” Ryuu scratched his head and replied, “No… I’m from the Mist village. I fought a guy called Deidara… and another guy just stood there and watched… called… Sasori, I guess. Then I kinda plunged into the river. A fisherman from your village brought me to the hospital here.”

‘The Akatsuki members?’ The man frowned and said in a low voice, “Follow me,” He brought Ryuu to a building on top of the village. They entered an office with a woman inside. “Tsunade-sama… this guy appears to have come from the Mist village and has fought an Akatsuki member named Deidara. He was in the hospital a while ago,” said the man. ‘Deidara… Sasori… this may be serious,’ thought Tsunade. “Kakashi, this man is named…?” Ryuu immediately replied, “Kurobushi no Ryuu, Tsunade-sama.”

Tsunade observed Ryuu and said, “You may stay here until you can return to your village. You don’t look fit enough for a long journey, Ryuu,” Ryuu nodded and left the room. Kakashi frowned. Ryuu returned to the streets of Konoha and peered into a few shops. ‘Interesting…’ he thought. Suddenly, he crashed into a blonde girl. “Hey! Watch where you’re going, baka!!” hollered the blonde girl. “…I’m sorry,” muttered Ryuu. “Ino! Where are you?” shouted a voice. “Oh no,” whispered Ino. A pale guy was walking along the pavement, apparently looking for someone. Ino had to find some way to hide. She suddenly hid behind Ryuu and whispered, “Don’t let him see me!” Ryuu didn’t hear her and just stood there, staring at the pale guy’s outfit. ‘What the hell? What kinda outfit is he wearing? That’s so disgusting…’ As the guy walked past him, Ryuu couldn’t help but to stare at him.

Once he was gone, Ino emerged from behind him. “Thanks,” she puffed. “Wha? Since when were you behind me?” asked a surprised Ryuu. Ino stared at him blankly. “...Um. My name’s Yamanaka Ino… and I’m… sorry for shouting at you,” Ryuu was now really confused. “Uh… I’m… Kurobushi no Ryuu…” They both stared at each other for a moment.

“Who was that guy?” asked Ryuu. “Him? He’s called Sai. Sai’s been following me all week,” sighed Ino. “You’ve got suitors huh?” Ryuu rolled his eyes. They started walking while talking. “Yeah… but he’s really annoying,” muttered Ino. Ryuu hadn’t realized that they were talking for almost an hour. Ino looked at her watch and gasped. “Oh no! I’m late! Shikamaru’s going to be so pissed at me!” Ino waved to Ryuu and said, “I gotta go!”

Ryuu called out for her again. “Wait! Um… when can I see you again?” Ino smiled and said, “Maybe later… at noon… I’ll find you!” Ryuu nodded and sighed. There was something about that girl.

Kurobushi no Ryuu

Chapter 3

Deidara and Sasori walked out of the shop. The village was in ruins, and they wanted it that way. “Now there are less places for Orochimaru to hide,” grunted Sasori. Deidara nodded. “We’ll destroy Sunagakure next… yeah,” Sasori put his arm around Deidara’s shoulder and smirked. ‘Sunagakure… the home of the great Kazekage, Gaara.’

Ryuu had spent the last 10 minutes in the restaurant thinking about Ino. Kakashi stared lazily into Ryuu’s eyes and thought, ‘He’s thinking about someone… ooohhhh,’ on the streets, Ryuu smiled to himself from time to time, making Kakashi feel even weirder. ‘He’s nuts,’ thought Kakashi. A group of girls looked at Ryuu from the back. They started to stalk him quietly. Ryuu didn’t notice them, he was too distracted. Kakashi slapped his forehead. ‘Now there are girls stalking him? It’s like a second Sasuke…’

Ino sat on a soft, grassy hill and sighed while smiling to herself. ‘I wonder what he’s up to now…’ Shikamaru stared at Ino in disbelief. ‘She’s in love? No way… she changes her boyfriends almost 3 times a week! That guy has no idea what he’s going into,’ thought Shikamaru bitterly. Ino started humming tunes to herself, which made Shikamaru feel uneasy. ‘What the hell?’

“Hey Naruto, have you been noticing Ino lately? She’s been acting really weird today,” asked Sakura. Naruto turned his head and said, “Uh? Really? I never really noticed it,” Sakura knocked his head and said, “Baka! She’s been smiling to herself all day! And I heard that a guy from the Mist village is here… he’s really cute, some girls say,” Naruto frowned and said, “Hey! You’re the one dating me, remember?!” Sakura laughed and kissed Naruto. “Baka… how could I ever fall for another guy?”

Deidara smirked at the map. “A three day trip to Suna, eh? We’ll pick up the host of the Shukaku too… that Gaara boy… yeah,” Sasori then said, “Yuura will be there to help us… then we can destroy Suna.”

Tsunade opened the message and frowned. ‘This isn’t good,’ Ryuu was called into the office. “Yes… Tsunade-sama?” Tsunade was frowning and staring at Ryuu. “I have grave news, Ryuu,” Tsunade said. “Your home village has been destroyed by two Akatsuki members,” Ryuu closed his eyes in horror. “No… the Akatsuki… are those two strangers?” Tsunade nodded. “I… need fresh air…” Ryuu strode out of the room. ‘You need time to take in the news,’

Ryuu ran out of the Hokage tower and towards the grassy plains. It was a big blow, his father and mother’s graves… burnt. Landing on the soft grass, Ryuu screamed on the inside. Sitting upwards, Ryuu spotted Ino sitting on a small hill. He walked towards her and sat beside her. “Oh! When did you get here?” asked Ino cheerfully. “Looks like I found you,” said Ryuu. Ino noticed that Ryuu wasn’t looking so happy. “What’s wrong?” she asked. “…My village… has been burnt… into ruins,” Ryuu’s voice was shaky. “…I’m sorry,” Ryuu shook his head. He then said, “Ino… I think… we’re both… well… in love with each other,” Ino turned her head towards him and said, “You think so?” Ryuu put on a surprised look. He edged closer to her face. “I say yes…” Before they knew it, they were in a deep kiss.

Kurobushi no Ryuu

Chapter 4

Gaara stared out of his office, over Sunagakure. ‘Maybe being the youngest Kazekage isn’t suited for me…’ A knock on the door was heard. “Come in,” said Gaara coldly. “Kazekage-sama,” greeted Yuura. “What is it, captain Yuura?” asked Gaara. “I have spotted two Akatsuki members approaching the village. What are your orders?” asked Yuura. Gaara sighed and replied, “Hold them off.”

They hadn’t realized that they were kissing for so long until a few raindrops fell. Ryuu then said jokingly, “I didn’t know it was that long,” Ino rested her head on Ryuu’s shoulder and said, “What are you going to do about your village now?” Ryuu simply sighed, and drawled on, “There’s nothing I can do… except… exterminate the Akatsuki,” Ino closed her eyes. “I don’t know what to do anyways…”

Tsunade had sent Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi on a mission to Suna, and then sent Gai, Tenten, Lee and Neji to help them. “What about that Ryuu boy?” Tsunade muttered to herself. She flipped through the files of the Mist village and stumbled upon Ryuu’s profile. ‘Ryuu’s an ANBU Black Ops captain?! …his father is the Dragon God Ryoki… completed 5 S-rank missions… this is a skilled Shinobi indeed,’ thought Tsunade.

Deidara and Sasori advanced towards Sunagakure. “Look, Sasori-danna. There’s Yuura… he has done his job well… yeah,” There were dead Shinobi bodies everywhere. Sasori nodded and drawled on, “We must get the Shukaku host at all costs,” They reached the front of Suna. Yuura greeted them. “Sasori-sama, Deidara-san, I have done the job as you have told me to,” Sasori replied darkly, “I was afraid that you had forgotten me, Yuura,” Deidara snickered softly. “Sasori-sama, the Kazekage is watching. Let us go inside where we can be hidden.”

Sasori looked upwards at the Kazekage’s office. “I’ll destroy it slowly… yeah,” said Deidara with laughter in his voice. “Don’t make me wait, Deidara,” growled Sasori. Deidara threw out a clay bird and formed a seal. The bird grew in size and was ready.

Ryuu put his arm around Ino’s shoulder and leaned in for another kiss. “You know… I could even consider staying in this village,” whispered Ryuu. Ino smiled sweetly and said, “I’d like that,” Ryuu pressed his nose to Ino’s and they both laughed. Holding her hand tightly, Ryuu knew that… well, he had found the one for him. A Jounin appeared in front of the two and said in a firm voice, “Kurobushi no Ryuu, Hokage-sama has ordered you to go to Sunagakure. It has been reported that two Akatsuki members were spotted there, and are planning to kidnap the Kazekage. She needs all help she can find,” Ryuu stared at his feet. ‘The Akatsuki… that Deidara and Sasori?’ He replied, “I’ll go,” Ino had a worried expression on her face and pleaded, “Please stay with me,” Ryuu held her hand and whispered to her, “I’ll be back as soon as I can… I promise,” Ino put up a faint smile.

“Gaara!” screamed Kankurou. The large bird flew off, with Deidara and Sasori. Kankurou followed the bird on foot, not letting it out of his sight. “Deidara, go ahead first. I’ll hold him off,” grunted Sasori. Deidara nodded. “Un,” he muttered. Sasori jumped off and landed in front of Kankurou. Glowering, Kankurou growled, “Return me my brother,” Sasori drawled, “I’m going to have to stop your foolishness,”

Gai, Lee, TenTen and Neji checked their map. “Uh… are we lost?” Gai scratched his head. Lee looked around and then said, “…I don’t think so,” A large brown bird with Gaara’s body held by the tail suddenly flew over the group. Lee shouted, “FOLLOW THAT BIRD!!”

Sasori collapsed to the ground, with a faint smile on his face. Sakura frowned. ‘Father’ and ‘Mother’ had lay beside his motionless body, staring up into space.

Sasori is dead.

Kurobushi no Ryuu

Chapter 5

The Akatsuki members surrounded the helpless Kazekage. “It’s time,” growled Leader. They formed seals and stared at Gaara. Deidara glanced sideways from time to time, waiting for Sasori. “Deidara,” whispered Itachi. “Sasori’s dead.”

Walking slowly, he checked the map. Glancing back at his love, Ryuu sighed. After he killed the Akatsuki… he’ll return. Ino walked into the ramen shop gloomily. Shikamaru sighed. ‘Why do I have to do troublesome things everyday?’ He sat next to Ino and asked lazily, “Ryuu’s on a mission huh?” She clutched her chopsticks tightly. Shikamaru couldn’t help but to gently stroke Ino’s long, silky hair. ‘…Maybe I should have taken the chance…’ Naruto’s team returned and let Gai’s team do the rest. “I wonder how they are doing now…?” muttered Naruto.

Ryuu landed on a rock and surveyed the area. He landed on the ground and felt the soil. ‘They were here,’ thought Ryuu. He advanced forward with the map tightly held in his hand.

“Byakugan!” Neji scanned the area carefully. “There, behind that rock,” growled Neji. Lee edged nearer to the rock. Pushing it with all his strength, Lee managed to reveal a cave. “There’s a massive amount of chakra,” growled Neji.

Deidara growled, “I’ll kill them,” Itachi sighed. “You’ll never get to that, Deidara,” Sasori, the one Deidara respected the most, had died in the hands of the Konoha shinobi. ‘After this is done… I will destroy Konoha,’ Gai’s team crept up from behind them.

Gaara’s breath became softer, and slower. “The Shukaku is captured,” drawled Leader. “Return the Kazekage.”

“I can sense you all,” growled Itachi. Lee looked at Gaara’s motionless body. Not that he wasn’t enthusiastic, but Lee had remembered the time Gaara had broken his bones. “Gaara,” whispered Gai. “Akatsuki, you will surrender and return with us to Konoha!” Deidara hissed, “Konoha…” Itachi merely grunted, “No. You can’t force the Akatsuki,” Lee immediately tried giving a punch towards Itachi, but he was too slow; Itachi had already punched him hard in the stomach. “Leader-sama, leave now,” whispered Itachi. Some Akatsuki members and Leader left, leaving Deidara and Itachi. “Deidara, go,”

Ryuu entered the cave and spotted a familiar blonde Akatsuki member. “Deidara,” he whispered. Stopping next to Lee, he said, “Deidara, this ends here,” Deidara frowned. “Oh, I remember… you’re the little boy from 12 years ago… your father was a weakling,” Ryuu lunged at Deidara at a high speed and stabbed him with a kunai. Deidara’s eyes opened wide in shock. He eased a bit, and whispered to himself, “Sasori…”
Itachi was now under attack by Gai, TenTen and Neji. He jumped backwards and growled loudly, “I won’t fall to the likes of you,” and disappeared. Deidara’s body disappeared, leaving Ryuu in a state of shock.

Upon returning back to Konoha, Ryuu found Ino sitting alone, on a bench. He crept up behind her and kissed her gently on the lips. “Come to the Mist Village with me… please?” Ino smiled, and replied, “I will… because… I love you.”

The Mist village was filled with houses and shops once again. Smiling to himself, Ryuu put his arm around Ino and surveyed his village.
