The Lost Clan Prologue
It was a typical bright sunny day in the village of Konoha. A young man with dark blue eyes and unkempt black hair was stumbling through town with a large number of boxes in his hands. “Sometimes I wish I had a smaller family.” The young man mumbled while trying to look where he was going through the pile in his arms. In all honesty it was quite an amusing sight. If a young man, with a black t-shirt, brown pants, and black sandals, and the famous Uchiha fan on their back walked by your store with a humongous pile of boxes in his arms. Wouldn’t you break out laughing? Especially if said kid walked straight into your mail box two seconds later.

“This just isn’t my day is it?” The annoyed teen mumbled. Although in fact it was quite the opposite. He was just getting home from his 17th birthday party, the stuff in the boxes were all his presents.

“Orsidian!” Exclaimed a young woman, as she rushed toward the fallen Uchiha. “Are you alright?” Although she was genuinely concerned she couldn’t help but laugh at his predicament.

“I’ve lived through worse.” Orsidian grumbled, as he stood up and began to gather the boxes once more. To his surprise the woman beside him now was also picking up some of them. “What are you doing?” Was Orsidian’s response to this seemingly random act.

“I’m helping you pick up your presents of course. My, my, how does a young man get so many presents for his birthday? You must have gotten one from half the village!”

“Actually these are just from my parent’s families and my closest friends and teammates. Oh and the Hokage sent one too.” Orsidian words came out rather blandly; he wasn’t really interested in the conversation at all. He just wanted to get home and open his presents. Not to mention he was a bit annoyed at being laughed at before.

The woman’s eyes went wide. “The Hokage sent you one? No way. How come you get special treatment?” The incredulous expression on the woman’s face made Orsidian smirk.

“Oh I dunno, maybe because my mother’s a Hyuuga. The clans seem to think I’ll become really powerful someday. Even though I’ve yet to manifest my bloodline limit. Heh, Even the Hokage seems to think I’ll be really powerful. I can’t help but think all this assuming is dangerous.” His words were unusually smug. f they only knew. “I don’t think its going to happen anytime soon…maybe by my 27th birthday…but who knows.”

“Well that’s all of them,” the store owner said cheerily. “How about I help you take them home? Unless of course you like crashing into mailboxes, I hear they store across the street has a nice one.” The grin on her face alone told Orsidian she was enjoying this a bit too much.

“Fine, but you’ll have to leave once we get home. You do have a shop to manage after all.” Orsidian wasn’t stupid. This wasn’t the first time this same woman had gone out of her way to help him. He was pretty sure she had a crush on him or something. Her entire appearance just screamed stalker. He didn’t need a Sharingan or Byakugan to see that. The last thing I want is THAT woman in my house. Come to think of it…she’s been tailing me for about a year now and I still don’t know her name.

“Oh wonderful! You’re such a nice young man. Say, have you ever met my daughter? Her name is Saun you really should meet her. If you’d like you could come by my shop tomorrow and I could introduce you.”

So that’s it… Always thought she was a bit too old for me. It’s her daughter she wants to sic on me. This could get ugly. Better change the subject fast, very fast. Orsidian began to walk towards his home and the woman followed, he couldn’t help but notice he could at least see where he was going now. “So uh-“

“Oh! By the way, aren’t you a Jounin? Why aren’t you wearing your vest?” Her voice alone was beginning to get on Orsidian’s nerves; it was high pitched, squeaky and absolutely annoying to listen to.

At least she changed the subject for me. “I don’t like wearing it when I’m not going to an official meeting or something. It was just a birthday party not a village duty.”

“Why don’t you like wearing it? You should be proud you made Jounin at your age.” She sounded concerned as if he was ill or something.

“I just don’t like wearing it, period. Frankly if it didn’t pay so much less, I’d go back to being a Genin just so I didn’t have to wear the stupid vest. It’d be better anyway; a Genin with Jounin level strength, no enemy could predict that.” Orsidian loved to add logic to arguments, it usually got other people to move the discussion in the way he wanted, or it got them to shut up altogether. In this particular case it was the latter, in fact she stayed quiet all the way back to the Uchiha compound. “Here we are, just drop the presents by the gate, I’ll make two trips.”

“You sure you don’t want me to help you take them into your hou-“

“Yes,” Orsidian cut her off. “Besides, the place is booby trapped, you might get hurt if you step in the wrong spot.”

To his satisfaction the woman turned pale. “Oh, ok…just you come by my shop tomorrow ok?” Orisidan gave a reluctant nod as the woman smiled and said, “oh that’s nice, I’ll be sure to tell my little Saun to be ready tomorrow, does lunchtime sound ok to you?”

“Fine.” I don’t want to meet your freaking daughter, I just want you to go away you creepy stalker. With that he turned around and opened the gate, carrying his presents along..

As he walked towards his house he couldn’t help but admire the currently modest Uchiha compound. Sure it wasn’t much just a lot of grass and a couple houses but hey, it was nice considering the village wasn’t that old, maybe 20 years or so. After the clan wars ended the First Hokage put this village together to make sure that stability was maintained. With the clans united instead of divided the village prospered quickly. The stronger clans such as the Hyuuga and Uchiha were given larger compounds, mostly so they wouldn’t get pissed and kill everyone. And Orsidian liked that idea just fine. So did the rest of Konoha.

Orsidian walked up to the house where he and his parents resided and placed the presents on the ground. He then placed his hand on the door when he felt as if something was wrong. It was just a feeling but after being on several missions and finally reaching the rank of Jounin, Orsidian learned not to ever go against his gut. The side of caution was often the better one, if you wanted to live anyway.

Orsidian withdrew a kunai and slowly opened the door. The moment the door creaked open Orsidian had to do his best not to remain clam, for within the house was the all too familiar scent of death. Shit. This can’t be good. What’s happened? My parents! Kami please let them still be alive. As Orsidian walked inside he realized his worst fears. In the middle of a very cut up, thrashed, and bloody living room lay his mother and father, in pools of their own blood.

“So, the birthday boy finally decided to come home.” The voice was sinister, and filled with malice and disgust. What was worse, Orsidian recognized it. “Too bad kid, if you arrived a few minutes earlier you could have died with them. Now we’ll have to take care of you separately.”

Orsidian turned around and stared and the intruder, or rather intruders. Both wore complete black, which covered everything but their faces. “Aster, Korin, how could you do this you bastards?” Oh Orsidian knew these two alright, Aster and Korin Uchiha, his fathers most beloved brothers. Brothers my ass, they killed him. Why?

“How could we?” Aster continued. “It’s simple really; you’re a disgrace to the family name Orsidian. Your bitch mother was a damn Hyuuga, and because of their tainted blood within you, you cannot even manifest your Sharingan. Pathetic, no Sharingan and no Byakugan…you’re a disgrace to both clans. So we’re actually doing them both a favor, by killing you and your accursed parents.” And the end of his speech both Aster and Korin unleashed their Sharingan, and prepared to kill the younger Uchiha.

“You bastards,” Orsidian managed to choke out between tears. “I’ll kill you for this!” If there was ever a time to show them what I have been hiding. It is now; I’m sorry father, mother, if I had just come forward sooner this might not have happened.

“Big talk for a crybaby” Korin spoke for the first time. “I’m sick of you, time to die! Fire style: Dragon breath jutsu!” With that a stream of fire came bursting out of Korin’s mouth and straight towards Orsidian, for good measure he turned his head from left to right, setting fire to the whole living room. When his jutsu ended Orsidian was no where to be found. Korin turned to Aster and said, “You think I got him?”

“MIDORIGAN!” Korin and Aster turned around to see Orsidian, perfectly unharmed but something had changed, no not just anything, his eyes had changed. Where they once were blue they now were light green. Each eye had 5 small black flames circling its pupil. What the hell is that? Was the thought that crossed both their minds.

“You will pay for what you have done.” With no further speech Orsidian rushed at Korin and before the older Uchiha could defend himself, Orsidian thrust his palm straight into the man’s chest, causing him to be thrown backwards and cough up blood as he landed. “You like that?” Orisidan asked coldly. “Its part of a new taijutsu style I’ve created, similar to the Gentle Fist, but targets bones and vital organs rather than chakra points. It’s still a bit rusty, however. I’ve been unable to actually use it in combat yet. But don’t worry; you two will make fine test subjects.” Aster jumped back so he could get a good look at the boy’s eyes. Orsidian just looked at the Aster’s eyes trying to read his movements. For a couple seconds the two Uchiha’s just stared at each other trying to gauge the other’s next move, before long though Orsidian mentally smirked. Does he really think he can hypnotize me with that lame Sharingan of his? Heh. I’ll show him. Orsidian suddenly jumped at Aster and prepared to end the man’s life. However Korin threw a kunai at Orsidian at the last moment and Aster leaped out of the way of Orsidian’s attack.

“Still breathing uncle Korin?” Orsidian voice was dripping with malice. “I’ll just have to fix that. Won’t I?” Korin’s eyes widened as he tried to move out of the way, however Orsidian’s previous blow had put him in far too much pain. He barely had enough energy left to throw that last kunai. In the end Aster could only watch as his younger brother’s ribcage collapsed under Orsidian’s next blow, for once Aster was thoroughly grateful the Sharingan could not see a person’s insides.

Orsidian turned to face his father’s eldest brother. No more caring for the consequences of his actions, Orsidian once more leapt at Aster preparing to end the life of yet another Uchiha. However Aster was ready this time, his Sharingan had already seen this move more than enough times to predict it. This kid is about to die. Just as Orsidian was about smash in Aster’s skull, Aster pulled off his technique. “Fire style: Fireball jutsu!” Aster’s jutsu engulfed Orsidian and seemingly burnt the young Jounin to a crisp.

When the jutsu ended Aster grinned at the ashes beneath his feet. However his victory was short lived. “Is that it?” Came a voice behind him. Substitution jutsu, damn. Aster turned around just in time to see a palm coming straight for his face.

Well, that was gratifying. But now what do I do? This was Orsidian’s train of thought once he left the now burning building. My parents are dead, my uncles killed them. Oh and I then had to kill them. Sadly I have no witnesses and my beloved family will probably blame this whole mess on me. The Hyuuga’s will hate me and try to have me killed because of this. I’ll probably be labeled a murder and either exiled or publicly executed. Orsidian watched the flames for a couple of seconds. Oh and my house is on fire. Hey that’s an idea. I can have the village think we all died in the fire. But then I’ll have to leave the village. I’ll never see my friends again. It didn’t take long for Orsidian to make his decision. Oh well. It’s better than getting executed. Better leave now before everyone in the village becomes attracted by the smoke. With that Orsidian snuck out the complex gates and was once more face to face with his birthday presents. Orsidian shrugged, he couldn’t be dragging along presents when trying to sneak out of town. Then a single package caught his eye. He quickly snapped it up and began to sneak his way out of Konoha. One package won’t hurt, besides not everyone gets a birthday present from the Hokage.

Two days later Orsidian was jumping from tree to tree in the forest, generally moving as fast as he could. After all they could have sent ninja’s after me. Even though he had faked his own death with the fire, he always sided with caution, just safer that way.

After a couple more hours of this he noticed a young woman, no older than himself, walking down the faint path below. What’s a girl doing out in the middle of the forest all alone? On closer inspection however Orsidian noticed this was no ordinary girl, she had a forehead protector with the Konoha insignia on it. She also wore a simple kimono and had a sword on her back. Crap they found me already. But if so, why is she only walking around? What’s she up to? Despite himself Orsidian couldn’t help but notice she was rather pretty. Her shoulder length blond hair was worn tied back, and from Orsidian’s new hiding position he noticed she had considerably well built. This was not surprising since she was a kunoichi after all. But what got to Orsidian the most were her eyes, green eyes that were the same color as his Midorigan.

The young woman stopped walking for a moment and sighed. “Come on out I know you’re there.” Oh, she’s good. Orsidian walked out of hiding with a smirk on his face.

“So you knew I was there all along? Not bad.” Orsidian spoke calmly, as if getting caught spying on women in the middle of the wilderness was a common thing for him. “Might I ask what a young lady such as yourself is doing out here all alone? You’re a ninja for sure, but where is your team?”

Said kunoichi responded by glaring at him. Who does this guy think he is?Why the heck should I tell him anything, we just met. In the end she decided it couldn’t hurt too much. “I’m running away from home.” This response was met by an eyebrow raise from Orsidian.

“How come?” He was actually curious as to why she would run away from Konoha, his reasons were survival, he couldn’t help but wonder if he may have found a kindred spirit.

The woman sighed. “My mother that’s why.” She glanced at Orsidian to find that he was even more curious then before. She was actually pleased someone cared to listen for once. “She’s one of those old fashion types. Still thinks a woman’s place is to be married off to the richest guy the family can find. She just doesn’t get that I’m a ninja not a common wench and I won’t be sold to anyone.” By the end of her explaination she was practically screaming at the top of her lungs.

I could learn to like this girl. “I don’t blame you. Actually I’m running away as well. But for a different reason.” This got the girl’s attention, when she asked why Orsidian elaborated. “My uncles killed my parents, I then killed them. However without witnesses I’d probably be charged with killing all four of them.”

“How horrible!” The kunoichi was furious. “Why’d they do that! I’m glad you took them out, otherwise I’d go back there myself and give them a piece of my mind!.”

Orsidian chuckled. “You’re fierce. I like that, well two is better than once, and since we both have the same idea why don’t we stick together? I even have an idea on how we might make some money.”

The girl smiled at Orsidian and said, “That’s actually a good idea. Alright I’ll join you, for now, I’ll ditch you in a heart beat if you try anything I don’t like. My name is Saun by the way.” The moment she said her name, recognition crossed the Uchiha’s face for a moment. Before he composed himself once more, Saun still managed to catch it though. “How do you know my name? Are you some kind of stalker or something?” She was already reaching for her sword as she waited for his answer.

“No. I just had the misfortune of meeting your mother the other day. Loud, annoying woman, I’m surprised you didn’t run off much sooner.” Seemingly pleased with his answer Saun rested her hand on her hip instead of on her sword hilt. “By the way, my name is Orsidian. Oh, and you might want to get rid of that headband.”

Saun blinked, “Orsidian? As in Orsidian Uchiha? YOUR family tried to kill you? And you survived? Wow. You must be really powerful.” Orsidian smirked.

“Not really, my uncles were just incredibly weak.” The two ninja chuckled. “Besides we should probably be going, I want to put as much distance between myself and Konoha as possible.” Saun nodded in agreement. “Oh and don’t ever call me Uchiha again.”

Saun threw her headband in the bushes. After a few moments she asked. “What should I call you then? Just Orsidian?” Orsidian seem to ponder this for a moment then shrugged. Shortly after the two were both on their way out of the land of Fire. She provides a good point. What name should I use?
