His mother makes a dash for the cupboard and hurriedly starts to fill a cup with water. Sasuke decides it’s to help treat his burned cheeks. The sun warms his back and legs. His response to his brother is muffled around the burns. “Yeah. Why?”

Suddenly there’s a splash of ice-cold water over Sasuke’s back and a strange hissing sound. His mother has splashed the cup of water over him. He shivers and looks at her wide-eyed. “What was that for, Mom?!”

His father closes his eyes and sets down his drink. “Son, your bum was on fire.”
