I dreamed I was a normal girl,
Beautiful and fair,
With eyes of frosted sapphires,
And black locks as my hair.
I dreamed I was a normal girl,
Full of kindness and charm,
For whom all people never turned away,
For fear I give them harm.
I dreamed I was a normal girl,
That never had to hide,
That I could run around freely,
Without their watchful eye.
I dreamed I was a normal girl,
With a past that I like,
And a family that cares for me,
In the darkness of nights.
I dreamed I was a normal girl,
But when I wake I see,
That my dream was, well, just a dream,
Of all the things I wish to be.
The image in the mirror,
Reflects my horrid face,
My alien silver eyes,
Is the reason for my disgrace.
Family is but a memory now,
Just a fragment of my imagination,
And friends frown at me,
Distrust in their expressions.
I only dreamed I was a normal girl,
But when you look at me,
You see a beautiful girl staring back at you,
The girl I wish to be.
I only dreamed I was a normal girl,
But I didn't seem to realize,
That really I am much more that,
Beneath my numb disguise.
Because my outer horrors,
Are only skin deep,
So look into your true heart,
To the beauty you are beneath.
