Clan History: Sasumi is descended from the Yamaki, a clan that was all but wiped out 200 years before Shi no Me starts. However, she grew up as a Modoka, a previously high-ranked family that was doomed to die out. Her parents and herself were the only persons left with the Modoka name.
Personal History: By complete chance, Modoka Sazumi was born with the Kekkai Genkai of her ancestors that had been dormant for two centuries. Living in a turbulent time of economic depression, the Rain seized the opportunity to better their country and tried to gain its secrets. For three years, Sazumi was experimented on and basically tortured. At ten, she escaped and killed half of the Rain’s elite forces with a part of her Kekkai Genkai that then became invalid. She spent the better part of a year traveling to different countries and villages, until she snuck into Konoha. She changed her given name to ‘Sasumi,‘ which her best and only friend from the Rain used to call her, and her family name to ‘Yamaki,’ for the great clan she was descended from. Sasumi then entered the Ninja Academy as a tribute to her friend who wished she could be a shinobi. Being badly scarred and mentally unstable, Sasumi did not make any friends at all until she was assigned to Team Seven.
