A shy young girl stared out her window. It was dark, and everyone in her house was asleep. She sighed as she stared up at the full moon above. The silence was soon interrupted by a gentile wind, blowing the leaves on the trees around her. She closed the window and hoped into bed, trying to sleep, sadly, it was a futile effort, because she was wide-awake, her thoughts only drifted on only one person in the whole wide world of whom she really cared about…the only person she admired…Naruto Uzumaki.
Hinata tossed and turned all night, and by the time she woke up, it was already time for school. “No…not now…” Hinata moaned, burying her face into the pillow once more, “Let me go back to bed…” It was no use; she knew she had to get up. Her father and younger sister had already gone out to train, while Neji was still roaming around inside, having nothing to do. Soon enough, Hinata rolled sleepily out of bed, got dressed, had breakfast, and walked off to the Ninja Academy. She is always the first one to class, believe it or not, and always sat in the back row, where she could just daydream about Naruto.
By the time Naruto got to class, he was 10 minutes late, “I’m sorry Iruka sensei! I woke up late and-” “Enough of your excuses!” Iruka spat, “If you’re late one more time I’ll-”, but he never really was gonna finish his sentence anyways. Naruto searched for an empty desk to sit in, the only one left was…right next to Hinata. “Hi Hinata.” Naruto whispered over to her, feeling glad that he was sitting next to someone that is actually nice to him. Hinata blushed furiously, but managed to stutter, “H-Hi N-Naruto…” Hinata wished she could speak more confidently to him, sadly, she just couldn’t.
Class began, and Iruka started out the day by passing out…a pop quiz! (Poor Naruto!). Hinata thought it was fairly easy…because she studied a lot when she had nothing to do at home. Iruka collected the quizzes soon after, and started grading them just when the bell rang. Everyone got up to leave, and then they went to lunch next. Hinata was the last one out. As she walked outside (lunch was outside), she couldn’t help but sneak a few glimpses at Naruto, who was obviously furious with his quiz grade. (Surprise, surprise…). When Hinata went outside, she saw Ino and Sakura fighting over who got to sit with Sasuke (so what else is new?).
She couldn’t help but notice Naruto sitting by himself, “Poor guy…” Hinata thought. She wanted to sit with him…but she just didn’t have the courage. Hesitating, she slowly walked up to him, “Um…N-Naruto?” Naruto looked up, “Yeah Hinata?”He said “Well…um…I-I w-was w-wondering if I-I could s-sit n-next to y-you…that is…I-if you w-want me t-to.” Hinata felt pathetic because she just couldn’t seem to stop stammering near him. Now Naruto hesitated, “Um…ok, sure why not!” he said, now feeling even more ecstatic because now he had someone to talk to. Hinata gave a sigh of relief, “Thank God!” she thought, “I thought for sure he’d say no!”
So, Hinata ate lunch with Naruto, and listened intently at everything he said, still wondering how he has so much to talk about: his schoolwork, his friends (Sakura and Sasuke), his feeling for Sakura, but, he did say that all Sakura does is turn him down (except when they are teammates fighting rouge ninja, that’s the only time they get along!). He also included that Hinata was actually a lot nicer to him than Sakura ever was. Hinata felt overjoyed by that comment. After lunch ended, they had a few more classes, and then went home. Hinata was practically skipping home. It was the best day of school she ever had…but sadly…it only got worse when she got home…
