Yeah, I agree; it's a difficult situation, but truth be told, I'd rather live on the streets than sell my daughter to a perverted old guy to be sexually abused for the rest of her life. That's just so selfish. She'd be in so much better hands with her mother; even if they were penniless. She'd be happier, no friggin' doubt. I still hold no respect for her mother, and I'm sure she doesn't, either.

Omg, Akira's mother was... horrible! I know that it was customary to arrange marriages with people even in young age, but this... oh my god. She didn't bother to ask even Akira's opinion.

Author's Response: Truth is, and this will actually be revealed a little later, that Sosuke forced their family into a tight spot, then came and said that if he was allowed to marry Akira he would be able to pull them out of their tough spot. Their arranged tough spot. And yeah, it was a really sucky option for them, but if she hadn't agreed, they would have been penniless. (That would be something I'd worry about, but not enough to give my daughter away...)

Author's Response: Yeah, sometimes it takes some hard words from a friend to really wake up. "Tough love"? I don't know-- but I think Izumi is starting to recognize that he was a moron. Naruto yelled at him, too, didn't he? Like, "YOU LET HER GO, YOU IDIOT!" or whatever.

Alright, so Captain Hiro found out from Monsieur Douchebag that Kei's a girl...
Izumi totally blew her off...
And she's betrothed to a guy she hasn't even met while she's thinking about going back to join the assassination team.

Author's Response: Surprise can do that a bit, can't it? So yes, you've got it right so far-- Kei was found out. She was spared by Captain Hiro because she was a favorite of his. Izumi did blow her off, but it was to save her, but nobody's really sure of how it helped either of the star-crossed lovers. And now she's betrothed to Shuuji because she feels she can't find a place in Izumi's heart. She was thinking about going back, but now she's stopping because she has Shuuji now. A part of her accepting Shuuji also lies in the fact that her mom wanted her to get married for so long, and now someone has willingly come to HER with an interest, instead of her mother introducing her to all the bachelors. Shuuji will be beneficial to their family, and because of this, she knows she should do this, to help her family.

I feel so sorry for Sakura. But Izumi just had to do it, I know. They both love each other, but at times like these, they just can't have each other. At least not yet.
I actually feel a bit sorry for Shuuji too. I'm guessing Sakura can't love him, at least not the way she loves Izumi.

Author's Response: Shuuji is actually a nice guy, but you're right-- he's just not Izumi. She loved so many things about Izumi, and now no man can measure up (let that be a lesson: don't set high expectations because perfect guys never exist!). There will be an ending to this story, and whether it's happy or not is for me to know and you to find out.

Author's Response: If there's one thing about Izumi that people can recognize right away, it's that he's extremely dedicated. Once he finds something that's important to him, he'll pursue it or protect it or do whatever the situation calls for. And now, Izumi, who loves Kei more than anything, has just lost what he cares for more than anything else, and it's hurt him so badly, but there's something that he knows he has to do: he has to protect Kei at all costs. And if sending her home and making her think he no longer cares for her, and possibly never seeing her again, is what will protect her and save her, then that's what he'll do, and that's what he's done. He's just longing for Kei, he wants her back, he wants to keep things how they were, where he could be with her and protect her and just have her by his side, but he discovered that there was a chance to save her, to have her sent home, so he took that chance. It broke his heart, yes-- when she asked if he wanted her to stay, he wanted to tell her he did, but he knew lying to her, pretending to hate her because she was a girl, was what would save her in the end. And Naruto was right-- Izumi completely destroyed Kei, but the one who really got the worst of it, the one who will never get over it, is Izumi-- because he had to lie to, reject, and pretend to despise the one person he loved above all else. ACK! I'm rambling...sorry...

GAAH! I kinda knew thas was going to happen eventually, but still. Oh my dear god, this chapter was like... !! I don't have a word for it. Let's just say that my heart is pounding like a maniac and my eyes must look like this "O___O" right now.

OMG! NOT THE HAMTARO-GUY! NOT HIM! It's really hard to take him seriously when I still think him as Hamtaro. xD Well, I guess flower-child isn't really better, but... Hamtaro.
I have a feeling that Hamtaro (oh yes, I'm gonna call him Hamtaro for now on) is going to have a serious conversation with Izumi, Sasuke and Naruto. Because if he knows (and I'm sure he does) that Kei is indeed a girl, well... I don't think Izumi, Sasuke and Naruto are going to leave it at that.
But I laughed so hard at the end. "Nice breasts, huh?" made my day. It really did. :'D And I can imagine Izumi's face so well. First he sees that Kei is missing and not in their tent. Next he hears Naruto say something about her breasts. I can imagine it so well... I almost fell to the floor, because I was laughing so hard. :'D
Omg, this chapter, hilarious, but still, quite scary. Because now we don't know what Hamtaro is going to do.

Hiya. I've noticed something that's been bothering me a little bit. In the beginning of the story, you mentioned that Naruto was protector sort of guy; that he was the one who always risked his neck to get everyone else out alive. We haven't really seen him DO anything yet. You seem to be neglecting him a little bit, just saying. Throw my favorite character a bone, eh?
Author's Response: I haven't forgot about him, I promise. Really, he's gonna just ease into that with the upcoming battle. He's gonna have a HUGE role in that sort of character frame-- you know, the self-sacrificing sort of guy who really shows his stuff to keep people safe. I have plans for him, don't worry. This chapter made me laugh unintendedly. Why? :D Because, I was tired and first when I looked at the name Hanataro, I read it 'Hamtaro'. I laughed like hell until I realised it wasn't actually Hamtaro. :DD
Omg, now Sasuke knows too! And when more people know, the chance of her cover blowing up totally grows too. :o Sasuke is right, she's living on a very thin string right now.
This story is getting more and more interesting! I didn't know it was even possible!
And the possibility that even Hiro might know... O - M - G.
And Kei was amazing as ever. Slicing an arrow! :D (That actually reminded me of TV-shows called Hercules and Xena. They always caught the arrows mid-air or sliced them in half. :'D)

Let me just say one thing. I don't like yaoi. It's the Sakura and Izumi parts that drug me in to the story. I will probably just skim over those yaoi parts. (Or completely skip them if it gets too graphic, but I don't think I have to worry about that.) I really like how Sakura feels the need to protect Kei. You decribe everything so well. I will definitely continue reading this. It's great.
Author's Response: I'll be honest with you: I can hardly stand yaoi. I can handle it, and I actually really like a yaoi pairing. But most yaoi for me is just weird (like Naruto and Sasuke). I don't do graphic yaoi...but I will do graphic violence. Just warning you. But really, it's awesome to see a new reviewer. It makes me extremely happy!!! I really hope you enjoy the romance between Izimi and Sakura-- they're my favorite pairing in this story. And I also have another yaoi that's Sakura with an OC, so feel free to check that out too. First, sorry I didn't review earlier! I wanted really, but I didn't have time (I'm at my friend's place atm, I'm going home tomorrow. There's an exellent japanese food restaurant nearby and I'm in love with it.)
But yes, back to the chapter! I'm really, really, really, envious. You know why? Because I can't write action/fighting scenes, but YOU DO IT PERFECTLY! ;_; I mean, the adrenaline, the feeling, the moves, everything, perfect! And I didn't even watch the youtube video (because this computer is shitty, I have to wait to get home and watch it there xD).
But omg! And Kei won. :D I almost expected Izumi to win, because...well... because boys always win the fighst. But I'm glad Kei won. :D
I'll be waiting for the next chap! ^^
Author's Response: It's okay, I know how that is. My very first real fight scene that I wrote was in the story "Jealousy to the Max" (another one of my stories, the first one I wrote here on TONFA). That was actually pretty crappy compared to ones I can write now, but, like with a lot of things, it comes with experience. You have to know how to write what people like, you have to be able to convey emotion-- fear, anger, determination, will, despair, hope, strategy-- and you have to make sure to always write every detail out. There-- that's my advice on writing action/fighting scenes. Another bit of advice is to watch a lot of action/fighting animes or movies. I love the movie "Gladiator" and that has awesome sword fighting, so does "Pirates of the Caribbean", and some good fighting animes are "InuYasha," "Bleach," "Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles" (that's what the YouTube vid was on), and of course, "Naruto." Also, to capture the adrenaline rush moments, I rea all those and another one-- "Skip Beat." That has some incredible adrenaline moments, even though it's not an action manga. Oh, and one last thing-- yes, Kei won! She had to win-- she's a strong girl. I was actually planning to just have Izumi win, but with every move Kei made, she was telling me that she refused to be denied. :D

your story is so sweet! i remember someone doing a running gag with kankuro where they switched to him suddenly thinking he really needed to brush his teeth right after some other characters' particularly sweet scenes. eventually he thought he was going crazy.
